Jason Locey takes on chief creative officer role at Arrivals + Departures

New position marks return to Canada after six years in Los Angeles

(Toronto, ON) August 1, 2017 – Independent creative agency Arrivals + Departures announces that Jason Locey has joined the leadership team and taken the role of Chief Creative Officer in the company’s Toronto office. The move marks Locey’s return to Canada after six years at TBWA/Chiat/Day in Los Angeles.

As creative director for the NISSAN USA account Locey navigated the brand towards a period of record sales growth. His 2015 Nissan Super Bowl spot ‘With Dad”,  “GT Academy” and “World’s Biggest Amazon Box’ among others landed him a number of Lions and an Emmy nomination. With over 15 years in the business, he has also worked with Apple, Gatorade, VISA, Honda and Energizer.

In December 2016 the former Extreme Group and Blammo Worldwide combined to form Arrivals + Departures. The company holds tight to its independent structure and beliefs, allowing the team to embrace the company’s entrepreneurial roots and do things differently than multi-nationals. From growing the business in unique ways, to nimble processes that lead to standout creative - decisions are made in the best interest of the company and valued clients, every time.

“We’re seeing this huge shift in the industry – what clients want and need from an agency partner has changed,” says Locey. “The more nimble independent agency model to me is better suited for 2017 and beyond and, I wanted to be a part of that. Locey’s arrival marks a reunion with Arrivals + Departures president Mike Bevacqua. Prior to Jason’s stint at TBWA the two shared a successful creative and account partnership and friendship.

"In a business filled with strong personalities, it's not often that you find someone this talented and driven who is also grounded and shares our vision for the agency,” says Bevacqua. “In our younger days we had a solid account/creative bond, built off of a mutual respect and excitement for exceptional work.  Locey’s plans for the company are already in action with the recent hiring of Angela Sung as Associate Creative Director. Sung’s resume is full of world-class work on global and Canadian brands including McDonalds, Volkswagen, Blue Cross Insurance, Mercedes, Sun-Rype, BMO, Lotteries and Telus.  In the past 15 years Sung has worked around the country and the world, including Cossette, FCB, Arnold Worldwide, DDB Vancouver and TBWA Dubai.
