(Toronto, ON) October 11,2017 - Independent agency Arrivals + Departures announces the addition of digital solutions agency, BlueBand Digital (BBD), and full-service public relations with the hiring of PR veteran Jennifer Alsop-Lee. This announcement rounds out a year of growth since the merging of former Extreme Group and Blammo Worldwide, rebranding as Arrivals + Departures in December 2016. The rebrand announcement was followed by several additions to the creative team, including the onboarding of new chief creative officer Jason Locey.
Leading the new digital solutions team is technology leader Sathish Bala as vice president of digital and innovation. Sathish brings an entrepreneurial approach rooted in technology and has founded several startups in his 20-year career. He is currently the entrepreneur in residence at Ryerson’s new Science Discovery Zone, mentoring science related startups and tech ideas. Sathish launched BlueBand Digital over 10 years ago creating digital platforms for clients that include Parmalat, Ford, Cadillac Fairview, Canada Basketball, Procter & Gamble and SABMiller.
The new team works cross-functionally with the Toronto and Halifax offices to integrate technical experience with full-service creative solutions already offered. Their expertise includes tech development ranging from web, mobile, augmented reality, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
“Arrivals + Departures is the perfect place for my team and I to call home. We share an entrepreneurial spirit and a belief in independence that fosters innovation for clients,” says Sathish. “Today we aim to be the long-term partner our clients can rely on to guide them through new digital ecosystems and disrupt the current brand landscape.”
Jennifer Alsop-Lee makes a move from the traditional PR agency model to Arrivals + Departures as vice president public relations. The new role was created to bridge the divide between paid, earned and owned content. Message development, media training, media relations, events, influencer marketing and multi-channel storytelling are all part of the new public relations offering.
Jennifer’s 15 years in PR spans technology, entertainment and lifestyle, consumer packaged goods and public affairs. She arrives from Media Profile where she led the agency teams for Google, Starbucks, and PlayStation (Sony Interactive Entertainment Canada) to create customized plans and campaigns.
“What Arrivals + Departures is doing is giving public relations its deserved seat at the table from the very first stages of brand strategy,” says Jennifer. “We shared the view that PR has historically been an undervalued add-on in communication planning and development. I’m thrilled to be involved from the onset with a team delivering strategic, smarter and most importantly, impactful work for clients.”
“We are very proud of the growth we’ve experienced over the last two years,” says Mike Bevacqua, Arrivals + Departures president. "But what’s more rewarding for us is the addition of like-minded people like Sathish and Jennifer, who bring a specific expertise that supports our independent culture and nimble approach to clients’ business.”
